Oh, Frabjous Day!
Yesterday I had the time of my life, and the day before that too, and the day before that, and the day before that . . . .But yesterday was especially cool. Maybe, though, I should start with Monday, since that was Day 1 of this week. In a sense. In another sense it was Day 2, but we can just pretend it's 1, for now.
Monday:
cherry pie. Fresh, me-and-Mandi-picked cherries, and fresh me-and-mandi-baked crust. And I made a lattice work top, just like Grandma does. It was so much fun. The hard part was keeping predators away from the good stuff. Jasper was fascinated with the dough. And the rolling pin. And my neck. He licked them all. And he licked the cookie dough spoons too. I licked those too.
While we baked we sang songs. . . Disney songs: Beauty and the beast ones, Alladin ones, other ones, as far as we knew them (not very). And nursery rhymes:
Oh where have you been, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh where have you been Charming Billy?
I was off to seek a wife, she's the joy of my life
She's a young thing and cannot leave her mother.
Can she bake a Cherry Pie, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Can she bake a cherry pie, Charming Billy?
Heck yes we can!!!
But she's a young thing and cannot leave her mother. . . .
Then we went home and watched Alladin.
Then we got up early and went out to ride horses!!! Huzzah!!!
So my rear is saddle-sore. . . . but it doesn't hurt as bad as my back. or my bike injuries.
And i didn't fall off, either. Not even in the rocky river, which was so cool. Saw some deer, dead critters, ate hamburgers, and went for another ride. Holy stretched groin muscles. My horse was huge--could have put a ruddy La-Z-Boy up there, no sweat. But instead, i straddled the dumb thing. . ah good times. Good thing i wasn't too sore today, not enough to curtail my running.
Then we went to the Inwood Demo Derby, that was hilarious. Mandi cracks me up. She almost killed me. I nearly choked on my water. Don't drink with a Link or with Mandi. One car got flipped, a wanna-be General Lee. a few cars were practically launched in the air, and some had sweet flames coming out the exhaust. Cherry red pipes, i kid you not. HOTT.
then the fireworks were cool, of course. Best part is the BOOM that thuds within my soul, slightly delayed from the flash. Ooh, is that ever sweet. my favourite, by far.
then i went home, and had a lovely surprise message on my board, only to find in the morning that it was false and i was woefully disappointed. But i'm over that now, and am skipping in the clouds, as far as i'm concerned.
Because, Heather sent me a package and it had the mostest funniest stuff in it ever. Can't really tell, for fear of offending someone, but rest assured that it was killer funny.
